I heard rumours of an pair of cardinals hanging around at this Winnipeg park over the summer. While cardinals are pretty common in most of Canada and North America, they are a rarity on the prairies. Even more so since it is late spring and and pointing to us having an over wintering pair.
When I get the the park, I see why it is a birding spot. With it feeder laden backyards, trees and winding paths, birds and birders are going to love it.
But alas, while I saw lots of birds, there was no hint of the cardinals. Perhaps they will return this spring?
