Busy Day To Start Off March

I started off the Sunday like I do a lot of Sundays during the ‘not fishing season‘ and that is an online worldwide guitar community of jazz guitar players it is a mixed bag of professionals like me and educators like me as well as semi professionals some very adept amateurs and some super green beginners.
We have an open mic and you can play whatever you want guitar wise I don’t remember what I played that day but it’s always fun It centers on traditional jazz European jazz also known as gypsy jazz When I’m working on a particularly gypsy tune a Django Reinhardt tune typically I will show what I’m doing with that if not I will just play something from my solo guitar repertoire and then once in a while I’m feeling I’ll just throw in a backing track and play a jazz standard and have at it .
I am getting lots of great information from it and it’s a great community

Then after lunch I did a recording session that was kind of special.

I do a lot of karaoke recording sessions where we find a track and we strip the vocals off of it. Sometimes the person will sing along with the original vocalist and then we strip away the original vocalist and we just have the our guest vocalist. In this case it was an adult with Downs Syndrome that his sister set up for him. We also made a video of it.

I’m not going to put any of that on of course because of privacy issues.

from a recording studi

Sometimes I think about giving up doing any kind of recording because of all the people who want to make appointments and not show up all, the rubberneckers who want to just call, the guys are going to steal an MP3 from You tube but want to know what kind of mic I’m using.
This kind of stuff warms my heart!

Finished the day off by playing for a church service

It’s my church so it’s part of my volunteer work what I like to call talent tithe and it was an interesting group it was two vocalists a guy playing piano and accordion and also a celloist which was a really nice addition and when the cello plays it does cover a lot of the same range as the guitar but the person playing cello was very very good and did some really nice tasteful stuff that I did not mind to layout for most of that service it was a a very good start to March.
