For the 3rd or fourth year in a row, I put a jazz duo together for the Century 21 Gold Key Real Estate group. They really love us and are not shy about telling us. It is held at Hy’s Steak House on Lombard.
We play for their cocktail reception and dinner. Hy’s is the swanky kind of place that ‘should’ have live entertainment such as us, in their lounge. Sadly they do not, but the staff love the change. It was me on 7 string guitar and Steve Hamilton on up right bass.
We play our usual fair of jazz standards with a few holiday tunes thrown into the mix. They are an active but respectful crowd, never getting so loud that playing becomes hard. For all of us it is a nice Friday night heading into the holidays
I look forward to playing for them next year and for many years to come.
