Kevin’s Bistro

Our favourite time to play this venue is during the summer and on the patio. Lots of room, better sound, less crowd noise. There is a little the odd bachelorette party on a bike with loud music going by and then the odd motorcycle, you know of a certain type, that blows up the street but in general the acoustics bouncing off the walls of the building across the way and the way that people talking gets diffused in the outdoors makes it a very pleasant experience play in.

We used to be playing at this place about once a month but I am not afraid to let the world know I’m playing some place so that people know to come but unfortunately that invites every musician in town to try and snipe the gig away from you so now we play there probably once every four months if at all. It was a good run we develop specialized repertoire for this venue where we play our jazz but we also opened up to a lot of pop songs. We introduced drum loops, sampling and all kinds of layering, to sound like more than just two people!

It was it was great to do and we tried to expand to play other places but they think of us jazz musicians who are too laid back to play places that I call the “Brown Eyed Girl/Mustang Sally” venues.

Gigs come and go it’s the way it is.
