Last Gig of 2025

Saying a gig in the middle of December, is your last show of the year might seem strange to the outside world but, New Year’s Eve is not the glamorous event that it used to be.

New Year’s Eve 2025

I probably have more stories about bad New Year’s Eve gigs than good ones and as a matter of fact I can think of maybe one or two fun New Year’s Eve gigs and the rest of them have been everything from not a lot of fun to actually horrible!

So My Last Show of the Year was The Sampling Room in Winnipeg.

A whiskey cigar and pipe bar right across Carlton Street from the Winnipeg Convention Centre. I didn’t record anything that night. One, I’d already recorded lots of stuff on previous gigs but number two, they changed things around with the furniture. Instead of having two chairs and a table that I usually clip mount my camera to, there were 3 chairs and somebody had their stuff on the table that usually goes on the little stage. I just played the gig having said that it was a lovely gig wasn’t super busy in there being so close to the holidays and there was a snowstorm and a few other things But the people who were there were appreciative and I got more handshakes and compliments and tips than I normally do so for me it was a good night.

I feel this was a good year for me performance wise. It was off to a slow start and was looking like it was gonna be a little lean like last year. Then things really picked up in the last three months. I’m hoping that continues. I already four shows booked for the New Year, so I’m hoping to be off on a on great start.

Either way, to whoever’s reading this, I hope you had a great 2025 and have a better 2026.
