When I first started exploring 7 string guitar and while (and after deciding on a tuning) my first stop was not the jazz tunes in my repertoire. Instead, I started with simple tunes with very few chords. As you are aware I am an instructor so I am lucky that I could play simple song like “Amazing Grace” or “Simple Gifts” and work the 7th string into the arrangements whilst playing with the students.
From theses explorations I came up with some obvious and not so obvious open chord voicings.
