Quartet Gig at the Silver Heights Lounge

There are many regular jazz gigs in Winnipeg…just kidding there’s only one. It is the Heights Gig which morphed from the Pembina Hotel gig from before my time.
Where it was run by George Reznik, Bob ‘Moose’ Jackson and Bill ‘Crash’ McMahon. George and Moose are gone now and Steve Hamilton took over the bass duties, while playing with Bill. Bill took a tumble and hasn’t come back to the drums so Steve now leads the band that runs from September to the end of May. Typically with Rob Siwik on drums and and Dave Hildebrand on piano. The 4th artist is changed weekly and sometimes the rhythm sections as well.

I was the soloist on this date, previously in the year I was Jodie Borle’s accompanist with Rob on drums and Sam Fournier on bass.

I called the tunes and we went for it.
I threw up my GoPro and, while the sound quality was what it is, it documents the afternoon

I threw a couple of Django tunes in the mix as I have been studying ‘Gypsy Jazz’ over the winter.
