This is turning into a lovely gig for me
Once a month, a couple hours after work, I play whatever I want.
They don’t treat the musicians like they’re a problem and that may seem like a no brainer but I don’t know how many times I play venues where you show up and they’ve left you two square feet, put you in a spot with no electricity and when you want a table or a chair moved, they just treat it like it’s the worst thing to happen to them that week.

Thomas Hinds Sampling Room has a little riser that the rest of the time, when there’s not music, somebody could actually sit up there. They have light over top of it so it can focus on the music. It’s big enough that two musicians can play there. Plenty of outlets and it’s a really easy setup and it’s a smooth soup operation I literally love playing there
Being older the cigar and pipe tobacco does not bother me in the least and I wish back in the day when cigarette smoking was legal inside that those places had the ventilation system that the Sampling Room has!

I know they’re trying to please everybody and you can see there’s lots of TV’s. I’m not a huge fan of it, particularly when there’s nothing on that anybody wants to watch. Restaurants and lounges everywhere should learn they can put up imagery of something else. It’s not surprising who the demographic is to a cigar bar near the hockey rink that would be a lot of dudes who are into sports and when there is something worthwhile sports wise to watch I’m with them so either I think it’s a win over overall.
