Not trip to London would be complete without out something involving the Royals. Today we went to the palace to see parts of the Changing of the Guards, as well as a tour of the state rooms.
Reviewing of the new guards
Actually seeing the guards at the palace is a long waiting game and a bit of a trap. You have to get there early to get a decent view and when the crowds build up you are kinda trapped for an hour of waiting.
Instead we went to see the guard review, which included drills and a brass band!
Then off to Hyde Park. This was mostly birds for me. Mute Swans, Moor Hens, Egyptian Geese, Greylag Geese, a Grey Heron, Eurasian Coots, Cormorants, Mediterranean Gulls, and the bizarre naturalized Indian Rose-ringed parakeet (Goes with all the Palm Trees)
Buckingham Palace
No pictures are allowed inside the palace but, take my word for it, it is stunning.
The crew wanted to stop
But I encouraged them to soldier on. We made it to London’s oldest Bar; Gordon’s Wine Bar. EST. 1770
Some Stray Shots along the way to and back.
The ride back was long as it was both rush hour AND Friday night.
Tomorrow Tower Bridge, Tower of London and Platform 9 ¾
